Interview with Toni Owen-Blue

Published 2016-04-06.
How do you approach cover design?
With a really long stick. I'm not an artist, so I like to find someone with a style who matches the feel of the book and hand it off to them as fast as possible!
What do you read for pleasure?
I read what I write, Middle Grade (sometimes YA) Fiction, I like Social Issue reads but there are significantly fewer good ones around (especially Middle Grade, issues are either glossed over or dressed up in very pretty very unrealistic ways).

I read romance too, Visual Novels and things usually, I like to be able to boos my character around you see.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Iris is a book very close to my heart. And there is a story behind it, there are actually lot's of stories behind it, lots of little and usually stomach wrenching stories.

But the main thing you need to know is I wrote Iris to raise awareness about issues for kids that the NSPCC combat every day. Things like neglect, emotional abuse, self-esteem, social pressures. Just buying Iris sends money to the NSPCC and I hope people are touched by the story enough that they feel they can donate more... here:
