Interview with Robert Anderson

What are you working on next?
I am currently working on a fourth book in Snort's Tails and a longer book also based on the interactions between dragons and people.
Who are your favorite authors?
Charles Dickens, Douglas Adams, Mark Twain, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Simon R. Green. I know quite an odd mix, but it keeps me from getting bored.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Right now, I'm finishing the last two classes for my Bachelor's Degree and looking for a job.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was about the similarities between how I felt about 9/11 and how my father felt about Pearl Harbor. It was published in Chicken Soup for the Father and Son's Soul.
What is your writing process?
I just sit down and do it. A lot of times I am inspired by a picture, I see it, and the story comes to my mind.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
My five favorite books are David Copperfield, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, Little House series, Deathstalker series and Blue Moon Rising. I also have to admit that my favorite short story is "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." I enjoy science fiction and fantasy quite a bit and I do like to read just about anything by Dickens.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a Nook. I also read on my laptop or cell phone. I have to admit that I do prefer paper books.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I saw a picture of a dragon giving her son a bath in San Francisco Bay by the Golden Gate Bridge and it gave me an idea, if dragons existed and wanted people to get to know them, what better way than showing that they had feelings and cares similar to ours.
What do you read for pleasure?
Science fiction and fiction mostly.
