After a lifetime of writing poetry, short fiction and non-fiction traditional publishing just didn't seem like something I was going to be able to manage. Now that ebooks have gained in popularity and platforms like Smashwords have made it possible indie publishing sounded like the thing to do. Some friends had a story to tell and I wanted to see it told.
What are you working on next?
Something really different! A murder mystery based on a true story.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love my Kindle Fire!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media currently. But I am on a gigantic learning curve in this area.
When did you first start writing?
As I recall, I began writing (poetry mostly) when I was about 13 or 14 years old. I remember writing something in English class in high school and my teacher commented that I was a 'good writer'. Heaven!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I cannot qualify 'success' at this time, but Smashwords has introduced me to the possibilities of self-publishing and opened up to me a world I thought I might never find.
