Interview with Richard Leon

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The love of adventure. I write my stories similar to the Cohen brothers write scripts. I do not know the ending. I create the plot device, characters and settings. I filled them up with details and watch them go. I merely report what happens to my readers. The undiscovered story inspires me and once I create characters in detail the joy comes soon afterward.
What do your fans mean to you?
Writers need fans like humans need water. It is essential to communicate effectively in story and in person. I love talking to everyone I meet and sharing my enthusiasm about life.
What are you working on next?
I have several book series burning in my head.

The World of Naalrinnon book series will take place in the New Gods of Mankind Universe which I created and produced under Dark Skull Studios. The first book which starts The Leviathan War Trilogy is called Unbroken, From Pariah to Godhood. It is a story about a man fallen on hard time with his wife and best friend. The story takes place in a Bronze Age Fantasy setting and pits our protagonist Baesop a human against Demons, Gods and Elder Species of the planet Naalrinnon.

Another book series I want to do is called Dark Nights in Bayou City. The whole series will be a horror driven narrative based on The Lively Bones background before the Dominant One hit. Bayou City is loosely based on Houston, Texas.

One more idea I want to do is a Sci-Fi book series called Galactic Ruin which will tell the tale of the Dominant One far into the future.
Who are your favorite authors?
Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Bernard Cornwell
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
New opportunities and ideas waiting to be grabbed.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Playing games, working, exercising.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually I will type something into the search bar and go hunting.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes in High School about an assassin who used colored balls of magic.
What is your writing process?
As stated earlier I write pretty much like the Cohen Brothers. I formulate characters and plot devices. I create events in my head and fill out character details. Then I wind them up and watch them go. The readers get the details.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Honestly that was so far back...

But I do remember reading Larry Niven and Issac Asimov. Both men had great ideas which are implemented today.
How do you approach cover design?
I hire an artist and add a few flairs to it.

The End is here! On December 22, 2012 a meteor fell from the sky and struck the San Andreas Fault. Southern California fell into the water and disappeared beneath the earth. Destruction and ruin gripped the remaining parts of America. This started the Lively Bones effect. Souls could no longer flee to heaven. It brought new life made of metal and bone to those who died. Will humanity survive?
