Interview with B S Dunn

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
That's easy, my six year old son.
What do you read for pleasure?
For pleasure I read a wide variety but I'm partial to westerns, Roman fiction and world war 2 history.
Who are your favorite authors?
Louis L'amour, Ben Bridges, SJA Turney and Gordon Doherty.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I became an Indie author because I didn't think I was good enough to compete in the real world. Since then I have had a manuscript accepted in the UK. So it can happen, you just have to believe in yourself and don't give up.
What is your writing process?
I first start with an idea that I write down. Then I write down different things that can happen throughout the story and then I write out what will happen in the book chapter by chapter. After that is done I work on characters, names, clothes, weapons, looks and so on. Then comes the setting, where it all will happen and so I research the terrain, flora and fauna. After all that is done I begin to write.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The sense of achievement.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on a western manuscript for submission to a publishing house. After that I will go to work on the fourth book of a separate western series I have on the go.,
How do you approach cover design?
Cover design I leave to the people who know what they are doing. If I think it fits the book then I go with that.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
My spare time is writing. I'm a carer for my wife and autistic son so that takes up a lot of my time.
