Interview with Bridget Jean

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Michigan, but grew up in North Carolina. Growing up in some of the nature's beautiful backdrops, I found that being in out in nature has influenced the beauty in words.
When did you first start writing?
I remember being very young, age ten, laying on the living room carpet and writing. I still have some of them.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Strong romance with fun, a hint of suspense and on hands love!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wished I would have done this years ago, but life has a way of getting in the way. Where I am in life, I knew I was fully ready to jump start my first love, writing.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has made my dreams a reality! Being able to use this resource is fantastic!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing to me is a form of expression. I believe no matter what genre an author writes in, there is a tiny piece of their soul inserted.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are essential in every writing. They are what allows the characters that I have created to come alive. I know the feelings that I have when I read a book and knowing that others are experiencing that when they read what I have written is unconditional gratefulness.
What are you working on next?
The next book is going to be about a woman moving on with her life after just hearing a man's sexy voice on her answering machine.
Who are your favorite authors?
Dean Koontz, J. R. Ward, Carly Phillips, Frank Peretti, Jonathan Santlofer, Karen Marie Moning, and Christine Feehan are some of my favorite authors, but that's only a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family and being able to think of the next scenario of a book.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading and spending time with my family
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I read the descriptions and for some strange reason they call out to me which ones to read.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do remember the first story that I ever wrote. It was about a young girl who falls in puppy love with her brother's best friend, but he doesn't know she exists.
What is your writing process?
First, I think of a how a character is before I write. Second, figure out what they would be like in real life. Third, I put them all together.
How do you approach cover design?
I like the design that speaks to me. I may see it different than others, but for me it is more complex than what it looks. Imagination is a key role in everything I do.
