Interview with Stax Pitman

How do you approach cover design?
I have no set pattern to cover design, I just see, based on the storyline, an image in my mind and design it. Sometimes, it takes several tries to satisfy me before it becomes cover. Of course, I am sure there are designers who could come up with better concepts, however, then I would have lost my version.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
My approach to the written word of others, I take them as the writer has chosen for his audience to get their point across. I could not call one book more a favorite than another. Of course, I would choose my book as my favorites before others.
What do you read for pleasure?
Because I am a writer, there is always a story in my head, therefore, I make it a habit to never read another's work for fear of accidently using some fraise or quote. Before becoming a writer, I read hundreds of books. Now my only reading pleasure comes from hours of proofing.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Though I have e-books for sale in the market, I have never had the need to purchase a device to read them.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Simply, word of mouth and search engines.
Describe your desk
My desk is a standard 5'x4' type, nothing fancy.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in many places around the world, however, none of them influenced my writing.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing in the seventy's.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is a behind the scenes look at how the Sovereign People have been duped by their government.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I set out writing with hopes of landing a major publisher, however, that soon became a pipe dream. I realized I would have a better chance winning a Lottery. Then online publishing came along and I turned my attention there and now I will never look to a major and forever remain an Indie.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I have no idea how to answer this question, other than to say, they are another Indie where one can find an avenue to sell their e-books.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is getting the haunting story out of my head and on to paper.
What do your fans mean to you?
People are people and I respect all people as I do all living earthly things. Of course, as of date, I do not believe I have a Fan. Though it would be nice.
What are you working on next?
As always I am working on at least five books at a time. Of the five, a love story is getting all my attention.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite writers are all those who have toiled over trying to tell their story.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Nothing inspires me to get up each day. I just do, day after day.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend most of my free time out in the streets watching and analyzing other people. We are so fascinating.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I write them.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Of course, a love story.
What is your writing process?
It is to complicated to answer.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Actually, no story has ever had any impact on me. They are either a good write or not.
Write your own question here!
I would write my own question, however, at this time I do not have one.
