Interview with C.R. McCormack

Who are your favorite authors?
My top five favourite authors are Shel Silverstein, Anne Bishop, Neil Gaimen, Alvin Schwartz, and J.K. Rowling, in no particular order!
Describe your desk
My desk is littered in cat hair, a 9 piece cast iron tea set, my trusty laptop, and a dozen or so figurines on the top shelf judging me as I stagnate in my writing
What is your writing process?
A process...? Um... does banging my head against the desk and cussing until words fall out count?
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My cat repeatedly batting at my face is generally a pretty good motivator! Other than that it's the itch to feel productive and create something for the day
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Sketching, knitting, sewing, painting, sculpting, jewelry making, gardening, cooking... I have a large number of hobbies that get in the way of my writing
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a short story back in grade four, about a mysterious apple that shrank people who bit into it

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I've been reading since I was 3 or 4, so I can't remember the first one, but the first story to have an intense impact on me was Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, and I can still sharply remember several scenes in fine detail... it's also made me very nervous about going into wild water that might have venomous snakes in it
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My e-reading device of choice is a Kobo, though I've been known to dig up PDFs on the computer if I forgot to charge my device
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is seeing someone's eyes light up as they chew through my latest blurb of writing
