The best part about being able to write anything down is that we capture a part of ourselves that might be otherwise lost. Writing allows us to express ourselves in unique ways, to discover new things about the world, and to share the darkest recesses of our minds with others. There's something very liberating about that.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Like most people, I find that the answer to this question depends on the day.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy making photographs and spending time with family when I'm not writing; although, I also have a "real" job which occupies far too many hours of my days.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I'm not entirely sure that it was the first one I ever told but when I was very young, I wrote a story about Cinderella and how she became an assassin who brutally murdered her stepmother and wicked stepsisters - complete with pictures which I crafted out of torn construction paper and crayons. It's a story I may revisit in the future.
What is your writing process?
I only write when I'm angry. It keeps me honest.
Describe your desk
My "desk" is as mobile as I am. I usually wind up on my bed with notes and papers strewn about but I am comfortable anywhere that I can spread out.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read as much as I can, when I can. Right now, I am reading works by George R.R. Martin. He has a wonderful imagination.
