Companies want their employees to succeed, but Human Resource departments are not in the career management business. They are in the talent acquisition business. Today's business climate dictates employees are responsible for managing their own career. Everyone is expendable at work, but there are simple daily actions that can position people to be indispensable in facing each day fearlessly at work. reading my book "101 Ways To Be Fearless At Work" helps companies achieve their bottom line with stock holders, by making each employee a self sufficient, successful intrapreneur.

What are your five favorite books, and why?
My top 5 favorite books are:

1. "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. Human relationship techniques in the book are easy to learn, but take a life time to master. It is a good reference manual for success through the necessary interaction with other people.

2. "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill is my success bible. You can read the book in any order provided you finish each complete chapter. The chapters stand independent, but are interrelated in helping a person build confidence to make dreams a reality.

3. "Win The Race For 21st Century Jobs" by Rod Colon is is with proven information for the current business climate, based on the author's experience coaching thousands to successful job landings. This book offers solutions to the bad news that It's no longer your parents' type of job search these days.

4. "I'm On LinkedIn. Now" What by Jason Alba is an excellent primer for approaches, etiquette and human relationship development to establishing a trusted network of people willing to help you on the #1 business social network.

5. "Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive" by Harvey MacKay is a networker's to troubleshooting bumps that occur as part of interacting with people. Harvey's conversational writing style makes the stories powerful lessons for resolving curve balls people and life throw your way.

These books and quite a few more are highlighted in my book "10 Powerful Networking Secrets Of Influential People".
What do you read for pleasure?
I really enjoy reading "The Week". I was introduced to this periodical by a bartender at a conference in Tennessee a few years back. "The Week" allows me to quickly keep up on local and world news with source references from multiple newspapers, blogs, TV new, magazines and online forums.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
The Kindle Fire and my Samsung Note 3 phablet are my e-readers of choice, which allow me to switch back and forth quickly on different platforms for reading. When commuting, each e-reader has its convenience, depending on whether I'm standing or sitting. When siting on a train, taxi or plane I prefer reading on my Kindle Fire. If I'm standing during a travel communte and I have to use 1 arm to hold on, my Samsung Note 3 allows me to easily use my free hand for reading. I carry both e-readers everywhere I go.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Consider I wrote a book about the marketing topic, I have used Tip #24 Print Up Business Cards from the "Book Marketing Guide" by Mark Coker. For face to face meetings business cards are invaluable, as leave behinds.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on the mean streets of the Bronx Edenwald Housing Projects in New York City. While selling lemonade and delivering news papers, I had fights just about everyday. I won very few fights, but not backing down meant not having to fight the same bully twice. Bullies don't like to work that hard. These experiences helped me with interacting with people in the corporate business arena way better than any college education. Working in over 50 different companies with diversified business industry experiences over a 46 year career, provides me with many life lessons I can share with people through my writings.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Being an indie author allows me to enjoy the thrill of the chase by creating something from nothing. In some ways conventional publishing houses perform tasks that make it easy for their authors to miss out on the experience of certain tasks. Those tasks make indie authors stronger.
