Interview with Ceanmohrlass

When did you first start writing?
I was 5 years old, and in our Kindergarten class we wrote a short story about ducks. I had so much fun reading it back out to my class, and making them laugh when I did the duck sounds, I felt the positive reaction I got from my friends. I have loved writing since then and, although I am only now beginning to publish my works, I have been writing novellas for my friends and family for years to great reviews!.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
For years I have heard that I should publish my works, and that motivated me, now that I am retired, to do just that!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family and my pets, just seeing the beauty in the world around me really.
What is your writing process?
I don't have a specific process really, ideas and inspirations come from all around me, and usually take control of my thoughts when I least expect it. I write both as a hobby and a healing process, so I just let my ideas flow, and then hone them into something more personal.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Oh yes, it was Wuthering Heights. The sensations and memories of reading that as a young girl for the first time, I just couldn't put it down! I became a lifelong reader from that moment on!
How do you approach cover design?
After my story is mostly completed, I think about the image it conjures up in my mind and I try to replicate that as best as I can.
Describe your desk
My desk is any surface I have available to me at the time that my ideas begin to form! Really! I have been at a restaurant scribbling a scene on a napkin, in my car using my phone to record the idea. Sometimes in dreams the ideas flow and I reach for a little journal next to my pillow.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend it with my family and my dogs, enjoying what life has to offer, just accepting the rewards of living!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Absolutely, It was a generational story of a young girl losing her grandmother and learning that her grandmother's life was nothing like what she had assumed it to be. This book is currently being tweaked for publishing, and it has been a beloved tale with friends and family.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Wuthering Heights - the story just draws you in and you feel so much for the characters that you lose yourself in it. You feel utterly exhausted after it ends, and the story stays with you forever.
Pride and Prejudice - I am a sucker for happy endings, what can I say!
My Antonia - Just the feeling of being within that story while you read it makes it worth the time.
To Kill a Mockingbird - I read this story in school and the emotions it conjured have stayed with me. It makes you think.
Onion John - This story is a must read for everyone in school I believe. I still have it in my permanent library in my home.
What do you read for pleasure?
Everything I can get my hands on really! I am drawn more to happy endings but there are times when that isn't fulfilling. I am not above some getting revenge stories and some humorous ones as well.
