Published 2017-11-22.
Who are your favorite authors?
Don't have a favorite much of anything, I pick random self published authors to read. Love the spice indie's brings. but to answer your question James Patterson Eric Jorome Dickerly.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Thinking about writing, lol. I'm obsessed I do take months off to enjoy the outdoors, friends and family.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The climb (Yes that's a Miley Cyrus song reference.) Usually when I achieve a goal I get bored, I've learned that the challenges you overcome during your journey to the top is the real victory.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Online forums usually from the Authors directly. Or borrowing from a friend.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've always wonder how successful people made it. By studying Michael Jordan, Master P, Soulja Boy, and even Kim Kardashian. I notice a take charge, make your own path and screw what everyone else thinks attitude. I take pride in cutting my own path to success.
What is the first book that made you cry?
Where the red fern grows. I weeped deep hot tears. Thats powerful how words on a page can draw such emotions.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything I love when they contact me via social media. Nothing like someone appreciating your hard work. I chat for hours with my fans. I'm very approachable I'd never want to just use a reader for a sell. I often find out what they are reading and get the title so we can chat about that.
Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?
Yes, I get threats all the time because of my antics but my writings are similar to my personality. All my fiction is based on my real life experiences, so I'm like use my real name, why not.
What do you owe the real people upon whom you base your characters?
Sharing their truth, letting the world see the terrible environment they are in. My books are aimed at getting officers and inmates better pay, more staff and better living conditions. Funding and staffing issues are withheld and the only way the government is going to help is if the public demands it.
What are you working on next?
My next novel in the Corrupt Officer's guide series - Corrupt Officer's Guide to Love. Protagonist prison guard John Youngblood is assigned to an all women's prison. There he runs into an old flame of from his past. As they spend time around one another he begins to feel the old flames rekindling, only it is illegal for guards to have relationships with prisoners. If discovered he could face 10 in prison.
How do you approach cover design?
I'm an artist at art. I practice photography and digital editing all the time. So I create my covers from scratch, from hiring models and photographing to finals edits. I do not recommend the do it yourself approach. You should find a cover designer as professional in his craft as you are in your writing.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
1 Ernest Hemingway's The old man and the sea. It visual takes me on the journey.
2 R.L. Stine's Ghost Beach - a twist I didn't see coming.
3 Eric Jorme Dickerly's Sleeping with strangers - I refused to read erotica novels until begged my a relative to read this title. Afterwards i developed a respect for the genre.
4 Falling in Love for all the right reasons: how to find your soulmate. Besides the countless plugs to get you on Eharmony this is a great read. Beautifully written.
5 The girl with the dragon tattoo - awesome female protagonist.
What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy supporting up and coming authors. Granted you get some lemons or plots you are just not interested in. The reward helping others and finding an occasional gem in the rocks. Plus I learn so much of what to do and what not to do.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth, free giveaways.
