Interview with Charlize Archer

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Biking. I love the feeling of getting lost on a trail (or as lost as I can get without panicking from no cell service).
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Friends and mindless Googling.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Oh, yes. It was a short story about a crab named Crusbacca. I was in the third grade and getting bullied like nobody's business. Crusbacca took over the island where the other creatures were making fun of him and became the first ever "King Crab"
What is your writing process?
Playing with my dog...wait, no, I mean tricking my dog into not sleeping on my notes.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Jane Eyre. I thought, this woman is in my head and we might share a similar world view, for sure.
How do you approach cover design?
Um, I don't? I'm still learning about this part.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Yikes...this is tough

Anne of Green Gables because "misunderstood well-read ansty teen say what?"
Jane Eyre because I cry by chapter three...okay, fine, during the table of contents.
The Bell Jar because it's raw and honest
The Hours because I hate how well it's written.
Breakfast at Tiffany's because I may be a female stereotype sometimes.
What do you read for pleasure?
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Can I get back to you?
Describe your desk the creepy cluttered way, not in the fanciful, whimsical way.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
In the West Indies.
I see everything through the perspective of a small island and a lot of endless water surrounding me.
