Interview with Christopher McLaughlin

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I've always loved a great story. When I'm writing, I am able to put myself in that setting. My hope is to achieve that with my audience. I want to give my readers and exciting experience.
What do your fans mean to you?
Not sure if I have any fans yet! Anyone who supports my writing and my books, is important in my world.
What are you working on next?
I have a young adult thriller coming soon. It takes place on Halloween night, and centers around a group of friends. What they encounter will bond them forever.
Who are your favorite authors?
Stephen King to start has always been a favorite of mine. I love R.L Stine; the way he writes is so much fun! I also enjoy reading many young authors who may not be so well known! Mike Wells is one of my favorite crime writers!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family, my friends, my life. My aunt always told me "love life enough to struggle". Every day is a gift for me, and writing is just a bonus!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am an avid golfer, and I love to cook, ski, hike, watch horror movies!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I try to keep an open mind. Not 'judge a book by its cover'. There are so many talented story tellers around. The cover is important for me as a first impression.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first full novel I read was Jurassic Park, By Michael Crichton. I read it over and over.
How do you approach cover design?
I want the cover to represent the setting and my title.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Paperback.....Ha...I use my kindle.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media is a great way to promote your work. Building your own website can assist also.
