Interview with C.J. Wiles

Published 2014-03-09.
What helps you to get into the mood of writing?
I usually listen to music or watch a movie or talk to people who inspire me or do research on the book subject I am writing about or even just sit and think, there is no right or wrong way to get into the mood to write, it just happens naturally.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love any book's from paranormal one's to war related ones or romance, but as you would have guest historical books are my all time favorites. It's exciting to sit down at the end of the day and just relax and crack open a book and let your imagination run wild and really get into the characters and what happens to them.
What's the story behind your latest book?
As stated before My first book series This place of dreams called America is inspired by my many great grandfather Michael Bauer who him and his family became German Redemptioners in the 18th century. It was not until I researched more into it that I decided to sit down and write a book about German Redemptioners in the 18th century. I will continue to base my books on them, my friends, family and people who inspire me, Christina
How do you approach cover design?
I base my cover designs on whatever subject the book is about and what I picture it would be like. Like if the book is about a bunny's naturally there would be a adorable picture or drawing of one for the cover. It is important to use your imagination and don't be afraid to go crazy on it, but some times a simple basic cover is better.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am still knew here and it is a working progress!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting lost into the characters and their personality and realizing that you are in control in deciding what happens to them and their fate. Do you make it mysterious, do you make it dramatic or tragic, do you make them happy and in lala land? The possibility's are endless when you sit down and write!
What are you working on next?
I am about to publish the second book in my series called This Place of Dream's called America part II Lies of a slave traitor. From then on I may take a little break from that series and work on getting some of my other book's out there but do not fret this series will not be forgotten and will be finished one day.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family, friends, our beloved pets and upon realizing that a new day brings on new adventures and excitement or despair. Will today be a great day or a bad one who knows until the day is over. ;)
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I usually, spend time with my friends and family and take care of our pet's. I like to cook and am always trying new recipe's. I also like to draw, paint and do different art's and crafts. I do allot research online about different things that interest me or watch Tv and learn something new. If I learn something new that day then I will have that knowledge of what I learned for the rest of my life and may even be able to use it in the future.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I do not have a E-reading device and I honestly do not care for them. I like having a copy of the book on my shelf and in my hand and be able to turn the page's and so on...
