Interview with Courtney Wendleton

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I was somewhere around the age of 10. It was about five teenage girl friends who meet and marry their true loves after becoming pregnant on a camping trip. It was stupid but it was the first one I ever wrote and loved it.
What is your writing process?
My process is I get an idea and just think about it. How would I expand it? What type of characters would be involved? I can't site and write out an outline or anything. I just put down notes about different story ideas and if I get more ideas on how to expand those then I write the book but if not they just slowly disappear.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember exactly which book was my first but I do know it was a Harlequin romance novel my mom had lying around the house.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My e-reading device is a Kindle. I have the app on my tablet but I prefer using my Kindle because of the large amount of books I have on there.
Describe your desk
Command Central has my laptop, iHome, and mouse on the right side. On the left I have space for my glass, an empty ashtray to catch paper and tissues that I throw when I get frustrated. I have a shot glass that I decorated and holds my ecig. Many empty pop cans from that days work. Lastly there is a small lamp and a second laptop in case my first one dies.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the Northwest corner of Missouri. This influenced my writing because I did not care for the area much and most often my stories are written somewhere else.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is second in a series about Irish mythology, vampires and missing family members.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy of writing is getting the story down on the screen and being able to share them with others who will enjoy them.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean a lot to me. Without them I would not be as happy about my writing.
What are you working on next?
Next I have a couple of things in the works. I am working on a WWII fiction, crime novel, and one including werewolves.
