Interview with Mark A. Adams

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
It is important to me to be able to provide information that can help people in their relations with one another. Being able to pass on tools and techniques I have taught and used for years means a lot to me, especially if something I write about helps other people.
What are you working on next?
I am currently finishing a companion workbook for Courageous Conflict: Leading with Integrity and Authenticity. I am also close to releasing my second book on conflict resolution which expands on the first!
What is your writing process?
It seems every author has a different process that works best for them. With the nature of leadership and conflict resolution, I often find myself jotting down notes, especially after an engaging meeting or while driving. I then work to write about these concepts after I have put more thought and reflection into how they can apply to different situations. Once I have collected material I believe is worthy of a book I then try to organize it into what I think will be a reader friendly format which links the topics together.
What is your background?
I have a diverse background in working with people which includes business, social work and coaching. I am the president of Achievement Edge, LLC where I provide programs on leadership, teamwork and conflict resolution. I have honed my skills by working with youth and adults alike in many different settings.
Why is conflict resolution so important?
I believe conflict is one of the most important concepts for people (regardless of position, role or status) to learn to improve. Many of the problems in our society, in one way or another stem from our inability to communicate, think about issues effectively and resolve conflict. The better each of us become at working to resolve issues rather than burning bridges or reverting to anger, the more everyone stands to gain.
