Interview with Corey Dyer

Published 2018-01-31.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read Emily Dickinson or reread some of my favorite series, like the Madison Avery series by Kim Harrison.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have both a Kindle, a Nook, and a few Apple products. Anything I can read on.
Describe your desk
It's surrounded by my writing stuff as well as children's toys from my son.
When did you first start writing?
I officially became a writer in 2005, but I had been laying the ground works all my life. I used to draw these picture books in second grade and put them on the book shelf in class.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I simply wanted to get my writing out to the world. I have been writing for awhile now, but had never tried to publish.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that my words have touched my heart and that they have the chance to be a difference in someone's life.
What do your fans mean to you?
They help get the word out for me and support me even when I don't feel like I'm doing a good job.
What are you working on next?
A novel that has gone through several rewrites before this point. It finally has let itself be written to near completion and should be out soon.
Who are your favorite authors?
Kim Harrison, Cornelia Funke, James Patterson, Lewis Carroll, Gaston Leroux, and Lemony Snicket.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
God.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Doing work as a youth pastor or relaxing by playing video games or reading.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I randomly search categories and pick what looks interesting.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The Crystals of Power. Wrote it in fifth grade and still have a copy of it. I'm glad my writing is better now.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Inkspell- Although it's the second book in the trilogy, it's my favorite because we get to see the world that Dustfinger came from. (My favorite Character)
Alice's Adventure in Wonderland & Alice Through the Looking Glass- It's a classic and I love it.
The Phantom of the Opera- I simply love it.
Willow- This connected with me on a personal level and has stuck with me as one of my all time favorites.
Once Dead, Twice Shy- LOVE!!!! I fell for this book and the later ones in the series and they ended up usurping the Inkheart Trilogy as my favorite series!
