Interview with Delores Cremm

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, the first novel that impact me was A woman of Substance, by Barbara Taylor Bradford. I found it amazing of how her character went from rags to riches, and from that I became inspired by the scenario.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was 13, but I started developing characters as young 6. The difference between me as a 6 year old with imaginary playmates is mine had family, friends and history. They were not talking dogs, horses or anything like that, they were real people.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The characters in my novel province has lived through me for over two decades, and I decided 10 years ago to actually put their lives on paper, but I noticed that a few of them were intersex which I believe this stemmed from my own past experience with someone who actually was born with the condition, and I thought she was an angel, but unfortunately my true hermaphrodite had emotional problems that cause her to destroy her own life. I describe her actual genetics in detail in my first chapter. I also notice some of my characters were French, I'm really not sure where that came from since they did take on a life of their own. The village reminds me of a place here in Ohio and of course my rags to riches pence had to play a roll. I do love the dramatic and suspense side of my writing, believe it or not I found the villian the most exciting one of all (she was fun). I also have first hand experience in the art of love making, so to write the sex scenes came fairly easy.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It made it easy to publish.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I was born to write and most writers are born, they are not made. My greatest joy is my characters, I believe they chose me and if anyone has been at it as long as I have know that they take on their own personalities.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything, if I can amuse them in my stories, and engage them in the pleasure of my creation then my purpose is well served.
What are you working on next?
The sequels to province which are, Vengeance, The fall of Devine and Neffrey's Bride.
