Interview with M F

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Anything I can find to do outdoors. I love Gardening, raising Chickens, and making landscape designs out of nature. I love spending time with my grandchildren and pets as well.
What is your writing process & style?
I usually sit up at night by myself and write until daylight, grab about 5 hours of sleep and start again. Once I get started on a book I jump in full force until it is finished. I am well known for leaving guests & family sitting while I run to the computer. I do not like to define what type of writer I am because I cover such a wide range of subjects. I write Romance, Instructional, Self-Help, Fiction, Spiritual and more. If I have not covered it yet, it is just a matter of time.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Mrs. Mike has had the most profound impact on me for a couple reasons. First, I love the story, it was very well written and it just felt like you were there with Katherine Mary & Mike experiencing their joys & heartbreaks with them. I read that in the 3rd grade and I can still remember it clearly to this day. But it also changed my life in another way, because it might seem like a big book for a 3rd grade child but I have always been an avid and advanced reader. After I did a report on this book my teacher refused to believe I had done my own work because it was so advanced for a child just entering 3rd grade, so she had my IQ tested. Afterwords, the Principal told me that in order for me to have the proper textbooks they would have to be special ordered because my reading level was higher than the Teacher's edition, then he implored me to start writing. And the rest is history...
How do you approach cover design?
This is my biggest battle right now because I am determined to learn to make my own covers. I prefer to do my books by myself from start to finish. I am just learning cover design but I'm getting better with each try.
What do you read for pleasure?
DIY projects, Gardening, Anything involving the Afterlife especially Sylvia Browne & James Van Pragh.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social Media and Blogging. I have a technique that I figured out that really works so of course I will eventually write about it.
Describe your desk
Embarrassingly cluttered. When I start writing I really do live in front of the computer which I keep in front of the couch, sitting in a small portable table so I can keep my boyfriend and the dogs company while I write. They don't know how to function when I retreat to my private writing room so we made a compromise.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
In the Southern Hills of Ohio. I would say that this influenced my love of nature and that is why I write a lot about gardening and outdoor projects.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I created my own weight loss program years ago. I have used the plan I created to help others over the years and I published it so that more people can become healthier. When people understand the concept behind my plan weight loss suddenly becomes easy. I want to share that with the world.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like the ability to control every aspect of the process. I may try a more traditional route one day but for now this is my preferred method of writing.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I just now published here at Smashwords, before I was exclusive with Amazon, so I am hoping to be able to update this soon with a great experience to tell about!
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Sure I write for myself and I am proud of my work, but our Fans are everything to those of us that write.
What are you working on next?
I am always working on something at any given time. I am working on the DIY Weight Loss Series now, but I already have the next idea ready and waiting. I started a series on love that lasts until death and beyond. After I finish the weight loss series, I am going to resume working on that. The first edition has already been published.
