Interview with DW Ulsterman

What are you working on next?
Something with a godly meme...
Who are your favorite authors?
Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Brad Taylor, the earlier Stephen King works, Elmore Leonard...a whole bunch.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I can't sleep more than four or five hours tops. Rather be working...
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
On the boat, golf, BBQ, travel...I am blessed to have a good woman whose company I enjoy. Hopefully she feels the same...
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do! Primary school. My teacher said I'd be a writer some day. It was about a clever little monkey...
What is your writing process?
Ideas filter through all the time and when one makes its way back I know I should give it a bit more thought.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
My own website at ulstermanbooks.com helps a great deal, as do my Facebook followers. I'm a bit new to Twitter still. Beyond that it's mailing lists, word of mouth, etc. The writing is actually easier than than the marketing in many ways!
Describe your desk
A damn mess...
What's the story behind your latest book?
It is the latest Mac Walker installment. The Walker series is by far my bestselling, though Irish Cowboy seems to be pushing its way up the list at the moment as well.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Freedom!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It's a good format, easy to navigate and a nice addition to the other platforms I use.
What do your fans mean to you?
I really appreciate those who read my work and then take a moment to give a sincere (and hopefully) supportive review. And some of them are just lovely-lovely people...
