Interview with Dana Brown

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I absolutely love making people happy, and if I can do that with my words, all the better. Knowing I'm giving someone a good time by reading my work really motivates me and lifts my heart up.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without people reading my books, I wouldn't write them. It's great to write for yourself, but I'm in this to connect with people and provide them with experiences they might not be able to have otherwise. In short, my fans are my life!
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on an S&M series in an office setting.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Being true to myself and trying to express that true self! Every day is encouragement for me that I'm alive and I can do better with my lot in life.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Well...I can think of a few things ;)

I do love watching movies and going for hikes though. I'm pretty normal.

In public, anyway.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I constantly look for things through sites like Smashwords, but also on Twitter and facebook, and other venues for up-and-coming authors.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I wrote was some fantasy story in grade 6. The Knight in Shining Armor saves the Princess type stuff.

What is your writing process?
It's a frenzied, chaotic storm of swearing, coffee and procrastination, until eventually I actually power through a project.
What do you read for pleasure?
Other Erotica! I have to keep in touch with the other stories out there, and also keep in touch with myself! ;)

I also read the New Yorker and Harper's. I love Alice Munro and Lydia Davis. Anything that lodges itself in my heart and doesn't leave is something I want to read over and over.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love my Kobo Glo! I'll never go without it. It's given me so much convenience and fun and I absolutely read more simply having one.
Describe your desk
Oh, it's just a plain old thing. Wood, clean. I have some plants and flowers surrounding it. I like Lilacs and Orchids. I also have a nearby bookshelf crammed with all kinds of books: fiction, non-fiction, writing and style guides and the like. It's underneath a window that peers out onto a very beautiful view of mountains and some woodlands.

I can't complain!
