Interview with C.P. Brickhouse

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use my iPad religiously! XD
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth and advertising on social media. I think the latter is one of the best ways to market--You can reach a lot of people quickly.
Describe your desk
Laptop, my iPad, notebooks, sketches...and surrounded by yaoi-themed and/or bishounen artwork on the walls. ;)
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in Arkansas. I was always an avid reader, and I'd been particularly enamored of fantasy novels (D&D, sword and sorcery--that sort of thing). I suppose the peaceful country life encouraged me to brainstorm as well as admire the lovely scenery.
When did you first start writing?
I started when I was VERY young--pretty much the moment I learned to write. I've been hooked ever since.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Well, "Sacred Lust: The Eros Angel" and "Sacred Lust: Maiden Training" represent an expanded universe for this erotic series. The former novel is the second volume in an on-going yaoi series, while the latter is a yuri (lesbian-themed) offshoot featuring my female characters. I enjoy both yaoi and yuri, so it was inevitable that I ended up writing two books this time around! I just suddenly got the idea for "Maiden Training" while writing "The Eros Angel". I don't regret it one bit. ^^
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I tend to be quite protective of my creations, and becoming an indie author seemed to be the best way to share my creations while retaining full creative control.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I'm hoping that Smashwords will expand my books' audience. I'm honored to share my work with others!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating my characters and composing their dialogue, hands down. I painstakingly try to breathe life into my creations. To me, they're more than just fictional people. I'm fully invested in exploring who they are and what motivates them in my stories.
What do your fans mean to you?
Every person who reads and enjoys my stories is a godsend because it means I've touched someone else and provided him/her with a decent tale that hopefully will stay with them.
What are you working on next?
Currently I am composing the third "Sacred Lust" main series novel, brainstorming on a second yuri novel, and considering a revision of an earlier short story I wrote. I expect 2016 to be a highly creative and productive year!
