Interview with DawnHartley

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
God inspires me to get out of bed each day. Each day is another day of life to make a difference, whether it be in my life or someone else's.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing I like to spend time with my family or friends or both. There is nothing like good laughter shared with family and friends.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I would like to say the first story I ever wrote was my historical romance called, "Wild Hearts, Wild Horses". Actually though it was a story/play I wrote for my sisters and brothers and I to act out when we were just children!
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing as a child when I was about 10 years old. I began with plays I wrote for my sisters and brothers and I to act out. From that point on I loved writing. I began to write poems and short stories and that escalated into writing novels.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my latest book is about having faith and trust in God even in times of trouble. My book is meant to inspire hope and faith when one is facing sorrow and to show that you must trust that everything does happen for a reason.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy by far is the satisfaction that the person reading my writing is emotionally moved by what they have read. I love to write to inspire and to be able to make my reader feel as though they have slipped into a different world for a while.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a fantasy book that has fairies, dragons, knights and heroes. It will be a mesmerizing book filled with action, adventure, romance and suspense.
How do you approach cover design?
When I choose my cover I choose something that will capture the eye and inspire curiosity to the point of making the reader want to pick up the book to see what it is about.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I would have to say one of my most favorites is "The Shack" by Wm. Paul Young. It was such an incredibly moving book.
My others are "Captivating Unveiling The Mystery of a Women's Soul" by John and Stacy Eldredge.
"Comeback" by Claire and Mia Fontaine, which is a true story of what they went through together.
Mark Gungor's marriage books.
Jack Canfield's Chicken Soup books.
Theses are all my favorite books because they all inspire and teach in one way or another how to be happier and more faithful and to overcome obstacles.
What do you read for pleasure?
I like to read books that can make me laugh or feel inspired to do better. A good heartfelt book brings me much pleasure.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I think it's not so much where I grew up, but how. I grew up with a mother that taught me a lot about God and helped me to become a very faithful person. That faith has helped me through a lot of situations and has helped me become who I am today. My faith is my biggest influence when it comes to writing.
