Interview with Devi Nangrani Nangrani

Published 2017-10-12.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Born in sindh before the partition, migrated in Bharat soon, took education in Hyderabad South India, Grew up there till the age of twenty.
seeing the inhuman side of partition where people were loaded in trains as luggage, the torture on physical and mental level clinged to the walls of my memory. Ofcourse that influenced the tender mind and when the writing started here and there I had the sore memories of Manking reflecting in the writings whether it is prose or poetry
When did you first start writing?
When did you first start writing?
What's the story behind your latest book?
This latest book if my first story book AISA BHI HOTA HAI….
The 25 stories have different phases of life of middle class peolple, specially women dealing day in and out with poverty, education, ailments, the male dominated society …then and Now.
The WOMAN is the centralized characer of my stories, showing struggle, fighting with situations to survive with honor and dignity
What motivated you to become an indie author?
writing is definately a passion , at the same time a gift of God to enjoy the time frame that one is in with joy and peace, depending on the time and frame that you are in. writing is also a process of learning, The writer when known to readers , feels more responsible to reproduce what is true and sincere for the reader is the best critic to know and evaluate .
Hindi being the national language of India has a wide scope in writing the short, long stories that we see around, feel, and live. it is very natural to express as the thinking is in the same language, that carves a beautiful sculpture from a piece of rock.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It is my first experience to be on this platform. in fact it has opened a new HORIZON with a sound relationship of a writer and a reader.
success is a term that relates to the utmost satisfaction of achievement. I am of the view that whatever happens, happens at the set time, for a set GOAL....if that contributed to Success it is surely WELCOME sign !
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The joy of writing brings one to the state of being in a desert where the thirst still remains unquenched.
One thing is there-For me it the best Quality time that I spend with myself, for myself , by myself with my choice. there is no compulsion, no compromise in that...something in you urges you to write all that connects the outside world with the world within you . that is the greatest pleasure and joy that one achieves. The regret part is missing here,.
What do your fans mean to you?
Initial stages the FANS never are there till the recognition as a writer is established. once this fact is known then my responsibility as a writer is prone to be little more responsible, specially writing essays or papers for the seminars and conventions. But as far as free writing of poetry<, Ghazal, Story or Laghukatha it does not make much difference, because in a story you are weaving and threading the concept that you have in mind. Ofcourse the flow and flaw of the language that appeals to the fans cannot be ignored....!it is relation that is developed that cannot be overlooked. I can never imagine to underestimate the literary fans, But at the same time take the liberty to write what I want in my way.
What are you working on next?
Currently i am working on completing my unfinished books to be compiled on Poetry, and 3 story books to be finalised by 2018 . From 2012-2015 December I had taken up the translation of SINDHI Stories from SINDH and HIND from Arabic language to Hindi as the new generation of Sindhi community is not introduced to their native language in schools. But at some point in future may be they come across the translatory work of their mothertongue and be connected to the origin and heritage of its cullture.
now i am compiling my pending work....
Who are your favorite authors?
Premchand, Maithilisharan Gupt, Rabindranath Tagore. Mahadevi Verma, RAJEE Sethi is my favourite story writing Pal. Pearl's Buch's GOOD Earth was my first reading in english literature and Shalespeare too.
Now I read the youth of new generation as they have new ideas , with a freshness in their language too.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To be honest is the Bright sunshine after the DAWN that takes the sleep away, wakes me up to be out of the bed with a prayer from my heart to Thank the Almighty for giving me yet another day to do what he has planned for me. But as human after all the chores when there is nothing to do there is still much to WRITE!!
