Interview with Darrel Lorenz

What are you working on next?
I'm working on the next Calvin Blake book. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments: darrellorenz@yahoo.com
Who are your favorite authors?
Robert Ludlum, James Patterson, Tom Clancy
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have been called a "Gym Rat" on numerous occasions.
What is your writing process?
I usually wake up in the middle of the night; I keep my IPhone next to my bed. Ideas can present themselves at any time; I keep a journal in my phone.
How do you approach cover design?
I’m an artist and very meticulous so cover design takes the longest. I usually will go through hundreds of Ideas before picking the right one. Cover design is vital to telling your story by simply looking at a picture.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Being an Indie author allows me to have total ownership of how and when I write.
What do your fans mean to you?
The word “Fans” is not a word I would use to describe any person that enjoys my books.
Maybe “Supporters” or “Admirers” would better describe people that read my books.
Being an artist of any kind is so personal, whether you’re writing a song or painting a picture it all comes from such an intimate place, a sense of vulnerability.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Just being able to get "The Written Word" to people all over the world is very exciting.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I usually pick out a book in a certain category, whether its thrillers or mystery than I read the first chapter and I'll know if I'm hooked or not. It doesn't matter if the author is well known or not, sometimes the best books I've read are from first time writers!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first Book I ever read was "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, I think I was in middle school at the time.
I Subsequently read the rest of her books, I was "Hooked"
