New Release 10/2014 - "Think Red Ink"
The biographical journey of Don C Harris through traditional Christianity to find his way. The Scriptures say, “God’s ways are not our ways . . .” Don says, “We should find God’s ways and get in them!” This book discusses Don’s personal steps and mis-steps, discoveries, surprises and changes as he learned to apply the red letters of the Scriptures; he began to, “Think Red Ink.”
Who am I?
I am a former pastor, an insider who was privy to many of the escapades and shenanigans employed to build congregations calling it church; to build hope and call it faith. I quit. However, instead of tossing the whole package, I committed to an objective read of the Scriptures.

One day when I was demanding answers of God the tables turned; God became the inquisitor and I the examined one. As I answered His questions I came to a startling conclusion, "The Bible is ruining my religion."
What authors/books inspire you?
The first book I read as a child was the Bible. Although I don’t hold a reckless view of infallibility of inerrancy of the Bible – I feel that it is a valuable record of the exemplars of faith. My appreciation of the Bible is not demonstrated by the liturgical adjectives that I use to describe it, but by the fact that I live by it.

Jesus said about His words what can be said by no other, “My words are Spirit and they are Life.” I believe Him. Some of the authors who inspire me – Abraham, Jeremiah, David, Job, John and Paul; but when you get the red letters (the words of Jesus) right, it ALL makes sense.
What inspires you to write?
Mostly what inspires me to write is when I receive unique revelation from God, not necessarily, to record publish or sell - but to allow that revelation to inspire others to seek the revelation for themselves.

It was the influence of friends and loved ones who encouraged me to write after reading my journals or written/recorded personal devotions that started me on the path of writing books.
Genre?
Non-Fiction, Religion: Christian, Religion: Faith, Self-help: Inspirational
Tell us about your writing process?
My objective when speaking and in writing is to utilize gestalt. The mysteries of God are not to be learned academically, therefore, it is my goal to allow facts to become the connect-the-dot tapestry of God's truth.
What is your opinion about marketing in traditional genres?
There are many paths to success. Would it be “success” to sell millions of books? I don’t want to sell millions of books. I want to offer millions of people a peek into the true Christianity. To me “success” is when someone, anyone, finds the will of God for their life. However, I have found traditional platforms lead to a gate by which stands a "gatekeeper." These self-appointed guardians have made it nearly impossible to publish anything that is contrary to established views or beliefs. Under the guise of protecting the world from heresy they have arbitrarily placed themselves into the position of deciding what is heresy. It is my opinion that if given similar scrutiny neither the Apostle Paul, Peter or John of the Scriptures (founders of our faith) would be able to publish today, individually, their works and letters to the early church. It is only by the post-modern convoluted interpretation of Scripture that the Bible itself is able to be published today.

Radio, television, Christian magazines, publishers of all sorts will not risk their sales by publishing contrary to the unproductive and useless drivel that has plagued us for centuries.
What advice for other authors?
This is borrowed advice . . . “If you have any young friends who aspire to become writers, the second greatest favor you can do them is to present them with copies of 'The Elements of Style'. The first greatest, of course, is to shoot them now, while they’re happy.” (Source: The new edition of The Elements of Style also includes a compilation of praise for the book from writers over the years. Wallraff's favorite remark is from Dorothy Parker, who reviewed the guide for Esquire magazine.)
What do you think about the future of publishing?
Books will continue to be published electronically and in print.
