Interview with Joey Branstutter, DVM

Published 2014-03-21.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I want to help students who are aspiring to a veterinary career. In such a competitive field, I want to provide a hand of support and encouragement.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The speed and flexibility of writing to publishing is wonderful. No red tape. Indie gives authors a voice!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
So many will be reached through this venue that I would never have been able to reach through other publishing vehicles.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that I am helping someone I will never meet.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are wonderful. "Faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is LOVE!" We have enough hate. I want to be an advocate for love that is tangible to my readers.
What are you working on next?
I just finished "You Want to be a Veterinarian?" I love writing poetry. I published Misty Vistas Inspired Poems in 2012. I may write another set next.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The Lord Jesus Christ. "In Him we live and move and have our being." After I set up a few minutes and gather my thoughts, I am ready to say, "Let's do this thing!" I look forward to seeing new patients and meeting new challenges that a veterinary career presents.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Chara and our son, Mark. He is a cute little toddler and learning so much every day.
