Interview with Michael Thornton

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is the release I get from writing. When I write I put my heart and soul in every poem.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing poetry in sixth grade, I stopped writing for a few years until my tenth grade in high school.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are everything to me. My book would not be possible without them. So My fans me a lot to me.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on another poetry book.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are Frank Peretti, Ted Dekker and James L.Rubart. I also enjoy C.S Lewis, Edgar Allan Poe,William Shakespeare,J.R.R Tolkien. To name a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My Lord Jesus Christ. My Children. My beautiful Wife. My Sister. The desire to write.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Raising my children, reading my bible.Teaching my bible class at church.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Word of mouth, Randomly pick them.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I wrote was for my 9th grade teacher. It was about a high school kid who was abused as a child who turned to music and drugs as a release.
What is your writing process?
I do not really have a process. I just write whenever the mood strikes. I sometimes go weeks. months without writing a single poem. Then there are times I write 9 poems in an hour.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My e-reading device of choice is either my Iphone or my Ipad. I love all Apple products!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Hagerstown Maryland. I do not think it has influenced my poetry much at all.
How do you approach cover design?
I had an extended famILY member design it for me. I told her the name and she got exactly what was in my mind.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
My top five books.Thats hard.
1) The complete works of William shakespeare
2)Complete works of Edgar Allan Poe
3)Monster by Frank Peretti
4) House by Frank Peretti & Ted Dekker
5)This Present ( or Piercing the) Darkness By Frank Peretti I can not choose between the two. Besides you need both.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read many different things, I read comic books, I enjoy a good mystery, Poetry, Really anything that catches my eye. I really do not stick to one genre of books.
