Interview with Eldon Arsenaux

Published 2015-07-14.
When did you first start writing?
I started to write when I could produce the letter Z, which is still my favorite letter. I think I saw The Mask of Zorro around that time. My real writing potential was evident at an early age with a pocketknife for a pen and tree-bark for paper, the good 'ol fashioned way.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
A story about an alien who collects humans and paints them gold, then turns them into rings. It was a poem, no joke. Wrote it in the third grade. Drew a picture of the alien. Looked like my neighbor Mr. Stephens. Always thought he was a weird one, liked poetry though, and Edgar Allen Poe.
Describe your desk
Filthier than a sewer of runaway sardine kids.
What do you read for pleasure?
Faces
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Texas and traveled extensively all over with my parents who were history enthusiasts up until today.
What's the story behind your latest book?
That's Top Secret, sorry. But if you really must know it's buried beneath stacks of short stories and sticky sugar from cinnamon buns, stained with coffee. Latest words written: Funambulist & Gravedigger, drops dead from tight rope into grave.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I thought it would help me become an Indy Car Driver.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Simplicity.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The glorious Sun Rising, or my dog, standing on my crotch.
What is your writing process?
This is. WORD!
