Everyone tells you to write what you know. My background is in the beauty industry. I've done it all from product development to owning a spa, from on stage demonstrations to establishing one of the largest beauty conventions in America. But I was very resistant to the suggestion until I suddenly found a way to incorporate fantasy into my former reality. The series, As the Chair Turns, is an ongoing compilation of my work and curated books from other authors who want to write in my series. It's fantasy chick lit; fun, laughs, romance, and mystery. I'm having a great time breaking the rules and being young, sassy, and a little naughty.

My desk is anywhere my laptop is. So i sometimes screen shot my desktop and post it on Facebook for laughs, it's a wreck while I'm writing my book and promoting it. I clean it up and file everything away before I begin the next book.

I use bullet lists of ideas, thoughts, character sketches, and scenes. I expand on those and then write a synopsis. I have a tendency to write the middle of the book first, then the beginning and eventually the end. But other times I have a clear view of the final scene and may work on it while I'm writing the synopsis.

I edit each scene I wrote then write from where I left off the previous day. So edits overlap my writing process.

I imagine the most important aspect of the setting, protagonist, and plot. I search for images then suggest these things to the cover artist.

I love reading of course and interacting with my author friends, but I am both a freelance editor for independent authors and also edit for a small press.

I've been an editor with a good idea of what it takes to go through the publishing process. I like hands on control and believe, with the industry changing as quickly as it has, being capable of adjusting quickly is an absolute necessity.

i grew up as a military brat. This had a great influence on my writing because of my awareness and acceptance of multi-cultures and social standards. I believe my experiences and exposure lends an air of realism to my descriptions, not only of locales but also of characters.
