Interview with Elizabeth Tybush

Published 2015-08-06.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes! I was incredibly young, and I drew a comic. My parents were really proud of me and encouraged me to keep going with it, because people would love it. (I didn't, because at that pre-k/kindergarten age, I was really into pretty much anything I saw.)
How do you approach cover design?
I have never liked really busy covers, or covers using photos of real people or realistic illustrations. I am a big-picture thinker, so I need something that draws my eye to the entirety of the cover. The realism on some covers begs me to look at the details (and also forces me to picture characters in a very specific way).
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I really liked my e-ink Kindle, but there was a bug with it—it never turned off, and always went into sleep mode. Now I prefer my iPad.
Describe your desk
I haven't had a proper desk in a long time.
