When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
If I'm not writing, I'm either reading or spending time with my family.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Most of them are from people like myself who love books. They'll post their favorites. There's one account I follow on Instagram and it's all about books. I love finding new ones to read.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
My first published is "The Charmed Necklace" which hits stores on March 6th. The first story I ever wrote? No because I have been writing since I was a little kid. However, I do have poems which I started writing back when I was 13. I'm eventually going to try to get my poetry published. Right now though, I'm too focused on the current stories I have in my head.
What is your writing process?
Well, first a story will start in my head and I'll start getting all these ideas. I jot them all down in my writing journal which helps me to develop my story. Then, I start writing it on the computer. Once I write out the whole story in its complete form, I go back and edit it time and time again! It's a really long process, but I love it!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Again, no because since reading is one of my greatest loves, I have read so many books. I do recall the 1st book I ever read in one day and that was R.L. Stine's "One Day At Horrorland" of his Goosembumps series.
How do you approach cover design?
Thankfully, my publisher designs my covers, but I am greatly involved in the process. I love that I get the opportunity to let them know exactly what I am thinking and they can go and create something so wonderfully. It still amazes me how they can take my detailing and make it into reality.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
1. "The Notebook" - Nicholas Sparks 2. "Night Road" - Kristin Hannah 3. Lili St. Germain's Gypsy Brothers Series 4. "The Fault In Our Stars" - John Green 5. Melissa De La Cruz's Witches of East End Series
The reasons are as follows: 1. I love all of NS' books, but "The Notebook" is my absolute favorite. 2. There is so much that happens in "Night Road" that this book is far from boring. I absolutely LOVED this one. 3. The Gypsy Brothers Series is absolutely fantastic! My next read is going to be "Cartel" by LSG which debuted a few days ago....it is the prequel to the series. 4. This book was so moving and so touching, I loved it. 5. I loved the magic in Witches....such a fun read.
What do you read for pleasure?
All books I read are for pleasure and I will read anything that sparks my interest.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love reading on my iPhone because I always have it on me. I love the actual feel and reality of a book, but reading on a mobile device is easier and it is always with you. I also read on my iPad.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads & my personal website.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love that when I'm writing, I am completely transported to a whole new world. I love the fact that I can create and have control over everything including a story's outcome. Writing is such an escape from reality and it has always come easy to me.
What are you working on next?
My next book is a completely new turn for me! I am soooo beyond excited about it! It is an adult-themed story and I believe it will be my best work yet. I am currently in the editing stages of it, but I am hoping to have it out by the summertime.
