Interview with Errica Liekos

Published 2015-05-13.
Why do you write erotica?
Because I believe in porn. I believe that consenting adults should be able to do anything they want with other consenting adults (including stuff that freaks other people out), and that we should be able to fantasize about... well, anything at all. And sometimes the only way people figure out that it's OKAY to like what they like, is if someone else writes about it first. There's enough censorship in the world without us doing it to ourselves through fear, embarrassment, or ignorance.

Because it's fun.

Because writers shouldn't take themselves too seriously, and there's nothing to take the edge off your self-importance like writing about the naked bits.

Because it is awesome to take my husband out to dinner with my "pornography money."

Because good stories are about characters who have real desires and fears, and if sex doesn't get to the heart of THOSE, then I don't know what does.

Because I can.
What are your five favorite (erotica) books, and why?
Macho Sluts by Pat Califia
Bending by Greta Christina
Seven-Day Loan & the Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz
Petals and Thorns by Jeffe Kennedy
Submission/Seduction and the Bound Hearts series by Lora Leigh

BDSM stories with sexual range and emotional resonance. "Fifty Shades" can suck it.
