Interview with Richard Cranium

Published 2016-03-18.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Mainly coffee a joint and the urge to piss
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I like to spend time drawing or working.
Sparking reactions with my words and actions is always on the agenda...
So is masturbating ;)
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Funny enough, I have only read 2 Ebooks, the first being Hunter S Thompson's
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas.
And the other being
The Unusual Thief, by
A. Dowd.
It was he who told me to publish on smashwords.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote was way back when I was in primary school.
It was a 12 page story about 9 monsters who attacked a few guys then transformed into 1 huge monster...
Thinking back, it was a sack of shit but I was 10.
The teacher always referred to me as "the one day best selling author"...
Remains to be seen.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is simply: take some LSD or other psychedelic substance, smoke some weed, trip my bollocks off for a bit then type a while... Read my book and my process will be come very apparent.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I used to read the Goosebumps books...
Probably part of the reason I'm so fucked up haha :D
How do you approach cover design?
The cover design was actually a fairly simple process which I turned into a complex problem.

So I took a quarter tab of acid and started again.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Erm, right now we're asking something.
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas because I see myself in that same role.
And the unusual thief as mentioned earlier.

I don't read a lot of books I'm more into finding out what certain crooks are up to
What do you read for pleasure?
I'll leave this blank
What is your e-reading device of choice?
:P
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
The "I'll just leave this here" technique seems to work pretty well.
Describe your desk
A laptop and smoking equipment
When did you first start writing?
Properly?!?
When I started taking psychedelics.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Read and find out, it's fairly straight forward.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I'm not successful yet :)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Reading it back when the acid wears off
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans?
Friends more like
What are you working on next?
It's a secret...
Which basically means I don't know yet, I have hundreds if not thousands of ideas floating about...
Just catching them that's the problem.
