Interview with Daì Shine

What motivated you to become an indie author?
To me, writing is my way of expression. To have someone else editing my work, more importantly, my words just doesn't settle with me. So who better to do it than the author herself?
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing to me is the response and reactions I get from my readers. There's nothing better than a book that you can visualize, that can evoke your emotions, that makes you feel like you're actually experiencing what's going on in that very moment. So when I get these reactions from my readers, it brings me joy to know that I achieved the goal I set out to accomplish.
What do your fans mean to you?
EVERYTHING & I mean EVERYTHING. Without the love and support and constructive criticism, where would I be? I seek out my readers opinions for almost everything. My fans are my co-pilots, my partners in crime. I love them to pieces!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Plotting on what to write next! Aside from that, I'm shopping, catching up on my favorite television shows, listening to music (which is my second passion), or hanging with friends.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life itself. You learn and experience something new everyday.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
WATTPAD! Wattpad is one of God's gift to readers and writers, lol. Wattpad has some of the best books! Wattpad is how I discovered my passion for writing; it's truly amazing!
What do you read for pleasure?
Any good urban fiction I can find on Wattpad!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I can't exactly remember the first story I ever read but I can recall the story that had the biggest impact on me. It was a novel called Damaged. The author's name escapes me at the moment but that was probably the best book I've ever read! That book set the tone for me as far as what urban fiction should be.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes! I was 14. I had just read a story by Sistah Soulja called Coldest Winter Ever and I just felt so inspired to give writing a shot! The story I wrote was called When it Hurts. I was a little shy about my writing but all my close friends who read it loved it!
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in the 9th grade, I was 14 at the time.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I lived in Miami, Florida up until age 12. I moved to Augusta, Georgia. That was a major change for me. I'm a very observant person, so the differences in the environment, the people, the personalities reflect off many of my characters.
What is your writing process?
Think. Plan. Write.
