Interview with F. F. Young

Describe your desk
I don’t use a desk, instead I have my laptop on my lap and I can be anywhere, sitting on my any couch, on a bed or simply on a park’s bench.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small city in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I had a difficult childhood, but I am not sure if that is why I started writing as adult. I’ve always been an artistic and creative person and loved to challenge myself, and writing a book was a big challenge.
When did you first start writing?
I had my first break through and started writing a year and a half ago when the story of "Relationships in a Suitcase" lit up in my mind like a lamp.
What's the story behind your latest book?
"Relationships in a Suitcase" is about my story with men in the past years, with the question of why I picked the emotionally unavailable men and how I could change that behavior.
What are you working on next?
I am writing a Sci Fi book about a German family that had immigrated to Romania more than a hundred years ago and when they tried to move to the United States, the ship they traveled with divided into two parallel universes. I am very excited about the story of this book.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have many, A. J. Quinnell, Paulo Coelho, and David Safier are in the top 3 of my list.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The idea of becoming a better person and fulfilling my dreams.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend most of the time writing or searching how to improve my writing, but lately I’ve been trying to create a balance in my routine. I’ve dedicated some time to exercise, to learn the German language and to practice my religion every day.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Alchemist, Brida, The Celestine Prophecy, Bad Karma and Man On Fire. The main characters of those books are searching for a self improvement and to be in touch with their spirituality and I feel related.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I really enjoy having a book in my hand. However, since I travel a lot and spend many hours in front of electronic devices, I read e-books on Kindle most of the time.
