Interview with Felicity D Kaye

When did you start writing?
I have always liked writing from a young age and remember writing poetry from the age of about 7.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story is about a greedy and unkind frog who reforms himself by going to the desert and coming back a kinder and better frog. It is Buddhist based and was inspired by my practice of SGI Buddhism and loosely based on Buddhist principles and ideas,
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have always harboured a desire to write, but what attracts me to this kind of writing is that I can be the creator, and publisher of my work, without having to send off my manuscripts to numerous publishing houses, and at the same time reach a large audience.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I think this platform is amazing, as it gives you the chance to sell your book in different formats and to a wide range of people. I have just put out my first book on Smashwords, so I am looking forward to doing some more!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love words, creating and sharing my ideas and writing stories and poems. I find writing very satisfying.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on a new book of poetry and a couple of novels.
Who are your favorite authors?
George Orwell, Jodi Picoult, Thomas Hardy, Joanne Harris, John Steinbeck, John Fowles, Andrea Levy - too many to mention.
What do you read for pleasure?
Everything, but I like thrillers, detective stories, biographies, fiction.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, listening to music, watching films, gardening and swimming.
