Interview with Rob Spense

What waa your favourite pet?
A dog. A Beagle called Bonny. When she died I cried my eyes out.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Well, I was never very good at writing them, plotwise. As a child, I read Enid Blyton, one chapter of Tolkien, as I progressed.
How do you approach cover design?
I've got a p.c at home. I upload photos, then 'doctor' them. Then I share them through bluetooth.
What do you read for fun?
Fantasy- Weiss and Hickman, Robert Jordan.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Not a kindle. Yet.
Describe your desk
I don't have a desk
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Basin'smoke. And HOW. The people I've known ( recently ) have fallen in to 2 types- friends ( to use the term loosely ), and users. The latter: I've learnt not to lend THEM money...!
When did you first start writing?
When I was about 6. I wrote a nice piece about my Dad. It was published, the only good thing I've ever achieved.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The ability to express your thoughts and emotions through a medium you understand. In the case of Edna....well. Let's just say it was hard to finish it..
What are you working on next?
The recent 'Scheharizade' effort- it's a pain. ( Autharium wouldn't publish it - they wanted 100,000 words for Edna )
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Thinking about characterisations - some people are memorable without realising it !
