Interview with Fran Lee

When did you first start writing?
I've been writing since I was just fourteen, but thankfully, all of those early attempts are safely hidden away in an old cardboard box under my bed, where they shall stay forever. Seriously, I began writing way before I understood the intricacies of romance and all its genres. I wrote to fulfill my own fantasies back then. Now I write to fulfill the fantasies of my readers.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Ride the Night Winds: Hunter's Moon was born in October of 2010, when that huge, red, totally amazing full moon made me itch to write a spooky story. But it was completed far too late to publish it that Halloween so it had to wait for another Hunter's Moon. And as usual, it didn't remain simply a "spooky story". Those of you who have read a Fran Lee book know by now that she cannot write a simple spooky always ends up a not-so-simple erotic spooky tale.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to put my imagination to work and make other people happy. It doesn't get much better than that!
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Fans are the lifeblood of an author. I love it when fans e-mail me and tell me how much they enjoyed a book. Or when they comment on Facebook and let the world know. I write for them.
What are you working on next?
Another book in the same world as Ride the Night Winds. There are so many many wonderful characters to bring to life.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many favorites, it would be impossible to list them all.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Thinking of something to write. LOL! Or answering e-mails, sharing my life on Facebook...making book cover trailers. Many many things!
How do you approach cover design?
I look for stock photos or pre-made covers that match the characters and intensity of my book. If I can't find anything, I find a cover artist who wants some business, and tell him or her what I need. I often create my own covers, but since the cover is the biggest selling point of any book, I want it to look fabulous.
What do you read for pleasure?
The same things I write...erotic romance...paranormal erotic romance...shapeshifter erotic romance. But it MUST have a HEA.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My computer monitor. There are apps that can allow you to read any book on your 20-inch computer monitor...I don't take books with me...I like to be comfortable when I read.
Describe your desk
What desk?'s under here somewhere...when I find it, I'll let you know.
I notice in most of your books that you write with humor, even in the most sexy stories. Why?
Life is funny...and I write like I am living the story.
