Interview with Frank Gustafson

What do you read for pleasure?
I am a veracious reader of business and personal development books. I typically read at lease one book a week. I have a podcast called The Leaders Bookshelf where I review the books I read.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I've used them all, but I prefer reading on my iPad with any of the reader apps. This gives me a lot of flexibility.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I don't book mark a lot when I read eBooks. Physical books on the other hand is a different story. I beat them up pretty bad!
Describe your desk
Oh you don't even want to go there! However, I do try to straighten it up a couple times a month. It's amazing what one can find when straightening up the desk!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX, but I grew up in the United States Marine Corps. I think that;s why I read and write a lot on Leadership and Personal Development.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I enjoy writing because I am a life long learner and I believe that I have a story to tell. I have been blessed in my personal and professional life and I feel like I am compelled to give back.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans... I don't know... I have a lot of online friends and they mean the world to me. I love people and I love encouraging and uplifting them. My greatest joy is watching the light come on in someone's eyes. That motivates me!
Who are your favorite authors?
Chris Guillebeau, Stephen Pressfield, John Maxwell, Ben Arment, Greg McKeown. They are my favorite right now. I have read books by each of them this hear... several by Pressfield!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Other than my English Bulldog (Trixiebelle), I'd say the thrill of the chase. Not the chase for money (been there, done that, and never again), but the chase for purpose and meaning in life. I don't want to die with my song 1/2 sung!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Drinking coffee, talking to my wife and Trixiebelle. Soon to be a grandfather, so I'd guess that my grand daughter will rise near the top of that list.
