Interview with George G George

What is your writing process?
Being a maverick I write differently to the majority of most authors, and tend to buck the norm.
I find that thinking about the characters and story then write it down, rather than spending hours writing each characters profile on a card or similar.
My characters are so memorable I do not need to do that, plus I have a good memory.
How do you approach cover design?
This is a difficult one as you can spend loads on a cover, I use a lady in the US that I got from Smash Words and she great. My personal view is a cover should attract the read instantly, especially when your a new author.
Dramatic that mirrors my writing.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I don't know about five but I read Sven Hassle and loved the characters, it was like you were there
and they were your friends.
Describe your desk
I don't have one it's where ever I lay my tablet, for me I put on my earphones hit the music button and get in to the zone and that can be anywhere.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in the Eastend on London, Bow. Strangely enough I was born in Lime house lying in home and in the same room as my aunt Alice (you can find her in my first book. The Chronicles of Revenge)
So that makes me a true Cockney not one of these plastic Cockney you hear of.
I use a lot of the stories my Granddad, Nan and dad told me about in my books.
When did you first start writing?
I am 54 now so it was about three years ago and anyone that knows me found it extremely comical that I was writing a book.
You see I have the same grammatical skills as nine year old and my spelling isn't much better, thank god for spell check.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's a spin off from the two part books I have just finished, people have asked me to write about the other characters so I have started with the most popular. George North.
The book tells of his life starting with his bare knuckle fighting mum and al the amazing adventures that he has, it's brutal, erotic and funny, well I think so anyway.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
For me it's the comments I get, personally I would like more people to leave more comments than have.
Above all of that though it's amazing where your mind can take you, for instance in the first book I had to get the three characters from a compound to a field airstrip and thought maybe four or five pages should do.
The trip lasted forty pages as I put in another small story in the middle, it was not planned it just came into my head.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I now live in the canaries I'm sort of semi retired from being a construction manager, so I play golf go fishing and generally do nothing. It's great
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I went to a writing course and the first story was when Dotty the teacher put a cardboard box on the table and gave us twenty minutes to write a short story incorporating the box.
All the others there wrote mainly about it holding a nice gift, me I wrote how it had held the remains of a man's family after a car crash that he had been responsible for. Dotty at the end of the course gave my a great compliment by saying in all the years she'd been doing teaching, she could remember all my stories and that had never happened before.
