Because I have been there, experienced the situation in all its misery, escaped and survived. I know only too well the heartache and pain, the soul-destroying feeling of hopelessness. I know others can regain their lives and be happy again, if they just have a little help and advice.
Where did you source your information ?
I have not 'sourced' my information from anywhere, the book is based on totally true incidents and how I managed to overcome them.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I always write factually. My ebooks are the stories of my life and what has happened to me along lifes path. Enough is Enough has been a painful book to write because it recalls a difficult time in my life, but I wanted to commit it to paper in the hope of helping other women who find themselves in a similar position. No one should suffer domestic abuse, be it physical or emotional.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I want to pass on advice to women who think they are stuck in an abusive situation, I want to help them to realise they don't have to suffer this way, and there is a way out.
When did you first start writing?
Physically writing stuff down - a few years ago, but I have always 'logged' events and incidents in my mind in auto-biographical form. The intention was always to create books from my experiences, but until I discovered Smashwords it was always out of reach, financially.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Without Smashwords, my work would not be published. Without it I couldn't reach the people I want to.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
In writing, I can transfer my thoughts and memories to print in the hope others will read it, find it interesting and if I can only help one woman escape, I will be happy.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Without fans, there would be no sales, and no opportunity to spread the word.
What are you working on next?
I am writing a follow-up to 'Enough is Enough', this time the personal side of how I escaped an abusive marriage.
What is your writing process?
It's a structure - I note down the main incidents first, these are the 'bones', then I keep going back and filling in the details, the 'meat' on the bones.
Smashwords Interviews are created by the profiled author, publisher or reader.
No woman should ever have to live in an emotionally or physically abusive relationship. It is not something you have to accept. You have the basic right to happiness and to look forward to the future without fear. You can escape this miserable situation, I did and have written about my experiences of how I did it and survived.
