Interview with Gurpreet Bedi

Published 2015-04-07.
What is your writing process?
i write what i feel like; dont worry it is not anything absurd but holds some meaning. Doubt my words.. just read them once.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Stories i have read many but it was a poem that had an impact on me the most. it was Robert Frost's "the road not taken". i just love it.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
i have a tint towards philosophical books as they energize me although i love reading humoristic and romantic novels too. but for my all time favourites i would say:
Who moved my cheese- It helps eliminating my laziness
Circle of Three - the way the author weaves the lives of three strangers is beautiful
The outsider- i just love the plot
Robin sharma's books- they energize me
I too had a love story.- A simple, dramatic and capturing story
What do you read for pleasure?
it simply matters at what interests me. i can read an article, a book, a poetry or simply phrases too on the condition that they should be interesting.
Describe your desk
My desk isnt at all organized. even if i have made hours of effort to organize it; it only takes a second to mess it up. Actually i like taking many tasks at a time; a single duty bores me so shuffling is always a great idea.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
it gives me the platform to express myself.
When did you first start writing?
i actually don't remember when i started writing, i used to love doing so it has been ages i suppose.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
when not writing, my brain is buzzing with various thoughts of all kinds. Besides, i love sketching and reading other books too.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, i do remember ; it was a ghost story.
Who are your favorite authors?
my favourites include the controversial Albert Camus, Robin Sharma And Ravinder Singh too. i love short stories of O' Henry part of the school textbooks. I would also like to mention Robert Frost a poet whose works have always influenced me.
