Interview with H P Andrews

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I currently use my phone as its easy to take around with me and is honestly always on me, yet I also love my original amazon kindle with the huge keyboard.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
At the moment I was a bit down and out on how to market my work, this is mainly due to financing. However a great technique I used to remedy this, is to contact your local book clubs and I personally sent them the opening chapters of my book.

Not only did I get great feedback from experienced readers, but I also got my name out there, albeit a little bit.
Describe your desk
Food, food and food when I write I eat, it helps me think and it helps me through the many walls you will hit when writing a book. I also have a lot of books on my desk from my favourites... pretty much just Pratchett books.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a little suburban town called Aldershot, the way this influenced me is that Aldershot is a very rough town. It actually once featured in the top ten of UK crap towns, yet when you actually live here I have never had or seen any trouble. So it helps me with those characters that you want to be the hard man but also have a heart.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story is about a lady that has a life threatening disease, however doctors have no idea what it is and even less about how to cure it. Yet one doctor believes he can work this out but it would require... strange... shall we say experiments! But it also focuses around how a life threatening disease can affect your loved ones and your own lookout on life.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Imagination, there is nothing else. Writing is the ability to live in a different world and share that with others... what else could you ever want.
