Interview with Harpreet Kaur

How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords gave me a platform for the different types of books and topics that I wanted to write on. And I can proudly say that each book shows me what more I can do as a writer. A link of my page sent to my friends, contacts, reviewers brings either a 'wow' on their lips or a surprise look, giving me satisfaction of reaching so far.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To see my ideas, thoughts, research down in print in a book form which can be read by people from all age groups.
What do your fans mean to you?
Just a word from them like (these are real compliments I have received) - the language is so easy to read and understand; very well written, well researched, I have traveled to that place and yet it was through your writing that I learnt so much more about it.etc etc. Fans encourage you with such words, they help you to go beyond what you have already achieved.
What are you working on next?
A novel - love story cum magic, past and present all intertwined together.
Who are your favorite authors?
Agatha Christie,Alistair Maclean, Louis L'amour, Clive Cussler, Erle Stanley Gardner and a few more.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The thought that I can write some very interesting pages for my novel.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Idea-ating, at any given time I am almost researching three to four books.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Log on to smashwords or google and go through various websites that offer ebooks and then read anything interesting that will hold my attention and not want me to stop reading or putting it down.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yeah, my first story - fiction is now a full fledged novel soon to be published this year.
What is your writing process?
I imagine, then write if it is fiction; if it's non-fiction i research, make notes and then write - pen and paper first and then final output on my laptop.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Hmmmm, yes,Guns Of Navarone by Alistair Maclean - and then I wanted to just write - yeah I knew I could write but had to just put pen to paper and have never regretted that moment ever. It brings me such satisfaction, that it lifts my spirits - I live and breath writing.
