Interview with J.A. Lucas

What are you working on next?
I'm busy working on re-illustrating my Kingdom Creatures series. I have forty books to re-illustrate since technology has changed so much over the twenty some years I've been writing and illustrating.

Plus, I'm writing and researching for the sequel to The Axiom Factor: Demon Band which will hopefully be out this fall under the title The Axiom Factor: Alien Agenda.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I typically only have time to read for research so I look for books that are teaching me what I'm wanting to learn about next.

I love to get suggestions from researchers I trust, when they recommend a book I really try to make time to read it.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first Kingdom Creatures story I wrote was Wally Whale. This was about twenty two years ago and it's still my favorite story in the Kingdom Creatures series. Wally is close to my heart.
How do you approach cover design?
For Kingdom Creatures it's pretty easy. All of the books have Kingdom Creatures presents then the name of the character with a picture of the main character.

It always has the scripture Psalms 150 vs 6 "Let EVERYTHING that has breath Praise The Lord." Since animals breath, they can praise The Lord.
What do you read for pleasure?
When I used to have time to read for pleasure I loved reading true life stories about people who have survived the issues life has thrown at them.

Lately I've been too busy to read for anything but research but I actually enjoy that so I guess that would count too.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love my iPad! I'd be lost without it.
Describe your desk
My desk is an organized mess. Too many piles and folders with ideas of things I want to write about and learn about.
When did you first start writing?
I've written poetry, plays and songs for as long as I can remember but I started writing Kingdom Creatures over twenty years ago. I still have so many ideas for stories. It is truly my passion.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The book I'm working on right now is The Axiom Factor: Alien Agenda. It is the continuing story of the characters in the original story, The Axiom Factor: Demon Band.

The new book will tell some hidden truths about the alien phenomenon and what is really going on behind the stories of UFO's, USO's and alien abductions.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like the idea of being able to have full control of how I market and write my books. In traditional publishing you have very little say and even less control.

I like the freedom I have with working with Glory and Grace Publishing. They do the work and I get to do the fun part, writing and illustrating and sharing with friends.
