Interview with J G Cooper

When did you first start writing?
This is our first book and book two is in the final stages of editing. In recent years I have read countless numbers of books and decided that I would like to write my own story. Gary accidently found my novel on the computer one day and after reading it said that he would like to write Andrew's side of the story. After reading his interpretation of the first couple of chapters I found that he definitely made the story more enjoyable. He has since found that he is enjoying the writing very much which came as quite a shock to him and has plans in his head of many books to come. After we finish this series, I am not sure if we will continue to write together or separately but is something we will both continue to do.
Tell us about your first book.
From the feedback that we have received it has been described as 'hot and steamy, funny, entertaining and hard to put down.
Arousing Innocence, is the first book in a series called The Hodgers Series. It is about two people that are thrown together because of sad circumstances. Andrew has been happy with his life before Katie came into it. Now he is very confused about what it really is in life that he wants. He knows that Katie has him feeling things that he has never felt before and wonders what it is about her that leaves his old lifestyle and the many women he has had, seem so empty.
Katie cannot fight the magnetic pull that Andrew has on her. She has been thrown into a world that she turned her back on many years earlier. Due to the murder of her father she now is the majority shareholder and she feels that she should at least learn about the business that her father built. She has no experience at running a large corporation like Hodgers though, so she is reliant on Andrew as CEO to help her.
Together they work on finding who is responsible for her father's murder and have to contend with the bitchy widow. Katie is also determined to get custody of her four year old half sister that she had never meet before returning home.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
When I first decided to write I wondered about sending manuscripts to publishers etc and what sort of reaction my book would receive. After doing some research and I found some self publishing sites I was so happy to think that it really could be a reality to see our book in print. What a marvellous opportunity this is for everyone that has a book or two inside them to share with anyone who would be interested in reading them. I say a big thank you.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Even though Arousing Innocence is FREE on smashwords it has been most exhilarating watching the number of downloads increase each day. Hopefully they have all enjoyed what they have read and will purchase book two when it is released shortly. I also love the fact that smashwords provides us with helpful advice, links and things such as this interview opportunity. We also found on smashwords that even though we were first time authors, our book was still easy to find while just browsing and not hidden under a mountain of books that no one would ever find. Well done.
What do your fans mean to you?
We have fans? LOL. How can you describe the feeling you get when someone tells you how much they enjoyed your book and can't wait for the next one. It is very gratifying and we are very grateful to everyone that has taken the time to read our first book. We would love to hear from you either by a review or on our facebook page
What are you working on next?
We are currently working on writing book three and with one more to go after that we have more drama, sex and confusing moments to come. Book three will show the fate of Katie's father's killer. Also Andrew's reunion with his army buddies that everyone seems to be looking forward to. More on the mystery of the anonymous letters that Katie has been receiving and why Andrew gets the feeling that someone has been in his house. (Book two)
Who are your favorite authors?
My favourite author is Richelle Mead. I just love the Vampire Academy books and also Bloodlines and the Dark Swan Series. I am a big fan of fantasy and love most werewolf and vampire books. Patricia Briggs, Kailin Gow, Nicky Charles, Ilona Andrews, just to name a few. On my more romantic days I love R.L. Mathewson, Sylvia Day and I did enjoy Fifty Shades so I guess E.L. James should be mentioned.
Gary on the other hand can't see what I could possibly like about fantasy books. In fact up until he had finished writing his side of, Arousing Innocence, the only thing he liked to read was anything to do with fishing. He has just finished reading Fifty Shades though because people kept making a comparison to him when he told them our book was an adult romance. He wanted to see what it was about. Thankfully I didn't end up with a red behind when he finished. Though I've never tried it!
What is the latest news?
Well we have had our books professionally edited and added professional covers. We hope everyone loves the changes we have made and that it looks more inviting to new readers. We are currently working on book 3.
