Interview with J.Junior Page

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest storyline is set in Dark Age Europe and combines a mixture of war, betrayal, love, death and the gods of the Norse tradition. The main characters are the human descendants of the mighty gods of Asgard and their destiny slowly unfolds throughout the chaos of the story.
When did you first start writing?
I first stared writing on a small scale back in 2009, it was usually on topics such as History and popular culture. Then in 2010, I made a promise to myself to self publish a book within the next few years and through hard work, luck and determination; I was able to release my first novel in 2013.
What makes your books different to everyone elses?
My Sons of Asgard series, brings to life the old Norse gods without the "Marvel" inspired versions of the major figures. A lot of lesser known fables and tales are de-constructed and given some new world polish, in a way my stories try to educate in the genre of fiction. I do find it quite regrettable that many people who enjoy the likes of Thor and Odin use the Comic book version as their benchmark.
Do you ever worry that eventually, there will be nothing original to write about?
I don't think that will ever happen to be honest, there are billions of people out their now with their own personal story to tell. I believe that writing like music and art is infinite. Do you expect musicians to one day go, "Every note has been played, that is it guys!"
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Freedom, I like the idea of writing the story I want. I do not appreciate been told to make this part of the story sappy, or this character more likeable. Also, if anything goes wrong its my responsibility!
What do your fans mean to you?
Besides essentially keeping a roof over my head? My fans mean everything, I see them as like minded individuals who see the world in a similar fashion.
What are you working on next?
I am leaving the Viking series behind and heading two thousand years into the future, still within the fiction genre but going back to my nerd like origins!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The alarm clock and more often than not, my children.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I do. It was for secondary school and it was about the Mafia in space, moving away from their criminal origins!
Describe your desk
A clutter of books, pens, scribbled ideas and a cup of Coffee.
