Interview with Jameson S. Pabes

What are you working on next?
Editing my sprawling STAR-TRIBE saga along with LUNATIC UNBOUND, a contemporary revenge thriller. Both available the second half of 2015.
Who are your favorite authors?
Philip K Dick, Ian Fleming & Hemingway.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Any chance to create new worlds & scenarios, in all their boundless forms.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love going to the Cinema (skipping theaters), taking in as many new releases as I can handle. Some of value, some shit. Helps me formulate fresh story ideas & character elements.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Solid reviews from friends & colleagues.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. I was on the virgin side of 15 (years old).
What is your writing process?
I've learned to permit a fledgling concept to gestate for a few weeks while I work on other projects. The 'notes' App on my iPhone is ideal for jotting down story elements here & there. After a number of layers have materialized, I construct a beginning, middle & an end. I also prefer to have a 'working title' in place. This sets the mood & overall intention. A commencing of research & we're off to the races.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes. The novel was Frank Herbert's science-fiction masterpiece DUNE. It opened up my imagination like none since.
How do you approach cover design?
I prefer my covers to be complex in design & scope with the intention of conveying the story within. The design art to be of quality (almost expensive looking). Symmetrical & popping with color, innovation. I like to take my time with their inception.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I treasure my iPad Air 2. Extremely powerful, thin & light. The user-interface is flawless from beginning to end with an impressive battery life. Hell, I'm an Apple devotee at heart!
Describe your desk
A brawny oak desk with a mint 27 inch iMac 5K in one corner & stack of research manuals, legal pads with story notations in the other. Everything has its place! A hanging bulletin-board holds varied examples of concept art. Helps me visual the direction I'm going in.
